Hello, my name is Sandra, but Ros gave me a different name. She called me “Miss Different.” Ros gave me that name after doing six months of coaching with her.

I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Ros by a work colleague who recognised her skills and knew she would be of great help to me – and how right he was! I loved my weekly visits with Ros; I couldn’t wait to be greeted by her beautiful smile and warm hug.

Ros made me realise I had previously not had a voice in my life, and she helped me find it and express it. She made me see that it was okay to say, “No, I won’t be able to do that,” and that it was better to decline an invitation than to go along feeling resentful. And if I did go, then leave when it suited me.

I love her saying, “Get back in your own paddock,” which helps me remember what is my business and what is not. So many times when I attempted to interfere with my children’s lives, I would think and hear Ros say, “Get back in your own paddock.”

Ros refers to her work as scaffolding, and when my scaffolding gets wobbly, I know it’s time to see Ros again and get back on track. She always says this work is not a quick fix or a silver bullet and that ongoing effort and awareness will always be needed.

I thought I understood what codependency meant until I began this process. I thought it was mainly between family members and now recognise it in so many other areas of my life.

Roslyn’s approach to her coaching is a balance of softness and nurturing, but always also firmness when needed, always guiding me through my problems but still leaving me the space to make my own decisions.

I have learned to grow up and take full responsibility for my own life and to stop blaming others and being a victim. And to realise that my problems are not outside me, but within me.

I try not to overcommit myself and to recognise my limitations so as not to let my life get out of control.

Since my work with Ros, I have developed the confidence to take on challenges both in my professional and personal life, and to meet adversity with patience and courage. Greeting responsibilities and challenges head-on instead of running away from them has been immensely rewarding.

I would highly recommend Roslyn Saunders to anyone who is experiencing everyday life challenges. Words are not adequate to express my gratitude to Ros for all her help and guidance. I’ll continue to use her skills forevermore.
