Hello, everyone! It’s Roslyn, your recovery coach. Today’s tip and insight are about avoiding the payoff we get from sitting in disappointment. When we avoid facing something, we can become addicted to being disappointed in life. We might even catch ourselves saying or thinking, “I know I’m going to be disappointed,” before attempting something.
So, my strong suggestion is, firstly, if you’re dealing with a significant roadblock, get someone else to mastermind it with you. Having a coach or someone to share your challenges with can be incredibly helpful. Secondly, break down the problem into manageable, bite-sized pieces to avoid feeling overwhelmed. If you take one step at a time, it becomes easier to deal with.
Remember, avoiding and procrastinating only leads to a buildup of disappointment that lingers in our minds. It’s like carrying around a bag of garbage on your back. Take action, even if it’s just baby steps. Write out a list of what needs to be done and start walking towards it instead of avoiding it.
I personally struggle with this as well. When things feel overwhelming, I want to shut them off and pretend they’re not there. But I’ve learned that it’s essential to face these challenges because they don’t just go away; they stick with us.
Brian Tracy, a renowned personal development expert, has a book called “Eat That Frog,” which emphasizes the importance of taking baby steps. Find someone to work with you on your challenges. If you need guidance or someone to talk to, I offer a 20-minute free Discovery call to chat about what’s going on and see if I can assist you or provide some helpful tips.
Remember, whatever you’re avoiding becomes the payoff you sit in—disappointment. This negative energy affects other areas of our lives and keeps building up until it becomes overwhelming. So, start taking those baby steps and face your challenges head-on.
Thank you for listening, and until next time, have a great few days!
